Leave Cthulhu Alone
Protect the Ritual From Unwanted Visitors
Leave Cthulhu Alone is a strange strategy and defense game where you help Cthulhu rather than fight against him. A ritual is taking place inside a large house, and a group of humans wants to stop it. Your job is to keep those intruders away from Cthulhu’s minion until the ritual reaches completion.
The unusual part is that you do not simply attack every person who enters. Cthulhu can capture humans and transform them into monsters. Those changed characters then become part of your defense.
Turn Enemies Into Helpers
You move Cthulhu with the arrow keys. Pressing the Space bar while close to a human captures and mutates that person. The transformed creature can then attack other people entering the house. Pressing R restarts the current level.
Different humans can become different kinds of creatures. This makes choosing whom to mutate important. Turning someone too early may place your new defender in a poor position. Waiting too long can allow several intruders to reach the ritual.
The house contains several rooms, and you need to pay attention to where enemies are entering. Some versions also let you switch quickly between rooms with number keys.
Think Before You Use Your Power
Leave Cthulhu Alone has more strategy than its simple controls first suggest. Each enemy is also a possible defender. Destroying or transforming the wrong person can change how the rest of the level plays.
The goal is not to chase a high-speed score. You need to manage the people entering the building and create enough monsters to keep the ritual safe.
The pixel-style presentation and unusual dialogue give the game a dark sense of humor. Its theme includes monsters, mutations, and cartoon violence, so it is not aimed at very young children.
Hold Out Until the Ritual Finishes
Every stage becomes a small defense puzzle. You move between rooms, watch approaching humans, decide when to capture someone, and let your transformed creatures help stop the next group.
Leave Cthulhu Alone stands out because the enemies themselves become your main defense. Instead of buying towers or placing ordinary soldiers, you turn the invading humans into strange allies and use them to protect the ritual long enough for Cthulhu’s return.
