Marvel Contest of Champions app has heroes/villains in different classes and those champions require a certain class catalyst to upgrade them. These class catalyst along with basic catalysts are added every day that players can get by completing the quests.
The Basic Catalyst (T1 / T2 / T3 / T4) : Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Basic Catalysts are available every day and you may get its shards as well as full. Tier 4 Basic Catalyst is only available as shards.

Just like Basic Catalysts, just a few shards of Tier 4 Class Catalysts will be awarded. However, you may get full Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Class Catalyst.
