Alien Invader

Fullscreen Mode

This Time You Play as the Alien

Alien Invader turns the usual alien invasion story around. Instead of protecting Earth from a creature from space, you control the invader. Two giant aliens arrive on Earth, but the government captures one of them. The remaining alien sets out to find its missing partner and causes enormous destruction along the way.

The game plays from the side as the alien moves through farms, towns, and other human areas. People run below while soldiers and military vehicles try to stop the creature. Your goal is not to sneak past them. Alien Invader encourages you to destroy as much as possible.

Walk, Aim, and Fire

You move with the arrow keys or the W, A, S, and D keys. The mouse aims the alien’s weapon and fires it. This lets you move in one direction while attacking something somewhere else on the screen.

The alien carries a powerful energy weapon that can burn people, vehicles, buildings, and parts of the surrounding area. Destroying things earns money. That money becomes useful after the level ends because you can spend it on upgrades.

There is one important limit. The weapon builds heat as you use it. A meter shows how hot it becomes. Firing without stopping eventually leaves the weapon unable to shoot for a while. You need to give it time to cool instead of holding the attack constantly. A separate meter shows the alien’s remaining health.

Humans Fight Back

The people on Earth do not simply run away. Military forces become more dangerous as you continue. Armed enemies and vehicles attack the alien while you move through each area. This means you need to watch both the targets you want to destroy and the attacks coming toward you.

Destroying more of the environment gives you more money for improvements. Better upgrades help the alien deal with stronger resistance in later sections.

Destruction With a Story Behind It

Alien Invader is mainly an action game, but the rescue story gives the destruction a reason. The alien is tearing through human defenses because its companion has been taken away.

That simple setup makes the game easy to follow. Move forward, burn through buildings and vehicles, defend yourself from the military, collect money through destruction, and improve the alien between levels.

Alien Invader works best when you balance attacking with survival. Watching the heat meter is just as important as aiming well. Firing at everything may feel tempting, but allowing the weapon to cool can keep you ready when another group of enemies appears.
